- Hosereel & ladder station in 1900

- Tuebrook police & fire station address was: 258 West Derby Road, Tuebrook, Liverpool 6 located between Orphan Drive and the railway (1894 Kellys directory).
The victorian police station was demolished in the 1960s partly to enable the road to be widened to dual carriageway.
A much larger replacement police station was built to the rear of the existing site postcode L6 4BR (but has no street number).
Postal areas were introduced in 1934 to larger towns including Liverpool. These were incorporated into the modern postcodes from 1959 to 1974.
- Another reference gives a station as Orphan Drive: Orphan Drive was the side road to Tuebrook Police Station so probably one and the same location. Police Station plan changed from 1891 to 1908 (rear area) with access likely off Orphan Drive. Possibly shed built for hose & ladder station.
Fire station not shown on available maps March 2013 - plotted on Police Station

- Single bay fire station housing hose cart & ladders was built at the rear of the old Tuebrook police station (manned by Police Auxiliary Firemen). Closed in 1920, but reopened and extended slightly for the duration of WW2 |
